Orlando Aggressive Driving Accident Lawyer
We have all seen them on the highway – drivers that race past us, tailgate other cars and dart across lanes without any regard for the danger they create.
We may think, “If that driver wants to get a ticket or flip his car, it’s his problem.” However, sometimes aggressive driving becomes our problem. According to Florida Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FHSMV) data, aggressive driving caused 183 deaths and 1,190 serious injuries during a recent three-year span.
If you or a loved one has been harmed by an aggressive driver, you should contact Frank M. Eidson, P.A., immediately to protect your rights. We can establish a solid car accident case on your behalf and seek compensation for the losses caused by the reckless driver. Call or submit our online form today to schedule a free consultation.
What Is Aggressive Driving in Florida?
Florida adopts the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s definition of “aggressive driving,” which refers to a driving that involves any two of the following traffic violations at the same time:
- Speeding
- Failing to yield the right of way
- Making improper or unsafe lane changes
- Following too closely (“tailgating”)
- Ignoring traffic controls (such as stop lights, stop signs and yield signs).
You know aggressive driving when you see it. Unfortunately, Florida drivers see it way too often on our roads.
According to one news report, aggressive driving increased by 88 percent between 2008 and 2010 in Florida. As recently as 2013, law enforcement officers in our state issued 23,180 tickets to aggressive drivers – a dramatic increase from the 3,815 that were issued just 10 years earlier.
Aggressive driving particularly is an issue when passenger cars share the road with large tractor-trailers. A driver puts everyone in danger when he or she passes a truck on the right side in a blind spot or cuts the truck off.
Seeking Compensation from Aggressive Drivers
Aggressive driving is, by its very nature, dangerous and reckless driving. In fact, a AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety report found that 56 percent of the fatal motor vehicle accidents in our country are caused by driving that can be labeled “aggressive.”
If an accident results in serious injury or death of a loved one, you may be eligible to recover compensation for your losses if you can establish that the driver’s aggressive driving actually caused the crash.
Attorney Frank Eidson is personally involved from beginning to end in each case our law firm handles, including the overseeing the investigation. He can establish whether a driver’s aggressive behavior caused your crash and seek to recover the damages you deserve through either a settlement or jury verdict.
