A case manager is someone in a workers’ compensation case that’s supposed to manage your medicals. They’re supposed to get to the doctor, get to the physical therapist, fill your prescriptions, and do all these.
The thing they don’t tell you is they’re hired by the workers’ comp adjuster and the employer to spy on you, to see what’s going on.
This is what they don’t tell you.
So, the problem that I have is that the nurse case managers, they’re going to the doctor’s appointment with you and the clients don’t know they don’t have to go in with you. I don’t want anybody that my client’s going in to talk to my doctor, why is this stranger coming in there.
They’re coming in there to find out what the doctor says, and then try to change the doctor’s mind
So if the doctor says, “Okay, I think he’s light duty and he can’t lift over five pounds”, also, the case manager will chime in, “Well, we’ve got light duty and he can answer phones.” And even if that job’s not there, the doctor will say, “Released full duty.”
It takes me forever to fix that.
So don’t let the nurse case manager come into the doctor’s appointment with you.
It just makes sense, there’s a privacy issue, “Me and my doctor want to talk about my neck, shoulder, knee, or back. I don’t want somebody from the insurance industry in that room with me.”
