Qualitest Pharmaceuticals has issued a nationwide, retail-level recall of several lots of its birth control pills, following a packaging error that could lead to improper dosing, leaving women without proper protection and increasing their risk for unintended pregnancy.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has instructed consumers who have already been exposed to the affected packaging to immediately contact their healthcare provider for further instruction and to begin using a non-hormonal form of contraception. Pharmacies who have sold the lots in question are also being told to contact consumers who have received the affected product.
The company’s product recall affects lots of Cyclafem, Emoquette, Gildess, Orsythis, Previfem and Tri-Previfem.
