♬ BARELY BREATHING - Grant Averill
Hey, I’m Frank Eidson, your central Florida workers’ comp lawyer. If you’re hurt on the job, give me a call. Of course, we don’t want you to get hurt on the job, so here are three things to keep in mind to avoid being hurt at work.
Safety Tip Number One: don’t get in a hurry and cut corners. Just do the job, right.
Safety Tip Number Two, use the safety gear that’s issued to you by your employer. Not only may it save your life, but if you get injured and don’t wear it, you lose 25% of your benefits.
Safety Tip Number Three, if your boss took a safety device off of any type of spin saw. Don’t use it. I can’t tell you how many cases I’ve won big by exactly those facts.
Remember if you’re injured on the job, call Frank Eidson PA. 407-925-2887
3 Things to Keep in Mind to Stay Safe at Work
It’s a scary thought, but most of us will get hurt at work at some point in our lives. It could be something as small as a paper cut or it could be more serious like slipping and falling on the job site. If you want to avoid getting hurt on the job, here are three things that you should always keep in mind:
1. Don’t Cut Corners
Hopefully, if you’re working on the job, you’ve gone through the proper training that is necessary to do that job the right way. That being said, it is important to always perform tasks on job sites the way you were trained to do them.
I know that sometimes if you’re under intense deadlines trying to fulfill a quota, you can be tempted to cut corners to get the job completed faster, even if that means endangering yourself by not performing tasks the right way.
Don’t do it.
If you get injured on the job while cutting corners, there isn’t much any lawyer can do for you because technically you were in the wrong as the employee that knows how to do the job correctly.
2. Use the Proper Safety Gear
Wear appropriate clothing for your work environment. This includes proper footwear, gloves, goggles, respirators, or masks as necessary. I know this might seem like a no-brainer, but that gear is required for a reason.
At the end of the day, it is important to follow all safety precautions in place for your workplace environment. Some workplaces even have a buddy system where you watch out for each other during certain tasks that are especially dangerous!
3. Don’t Use Tinkered Equipment
I know in some certain jobs, managers or supervisors sometimes like to remove certain safety measures off of equipment so that it works faster. Even though taking a blade guard off of a saw may make it faster and more efficient to use, it makes it extremely dangerous for the employees.
If there is a new piece of equipment that you might not be sure how to use 100% – Get trained on any new equipment before using it so that you don’t accidentally misuse it and end up hurting yourself!
